The next time you’re anywhere near Yarmouth, Maine make time for The Royal River Grill House.Driving through the Yankee Marina, with its massive sailboats and gorgeous yachts will get you primed for this riverside, interior design fantasy! The fact that the food and cocktails are excellent seems like the icing on the cake. It would be enough to simply sit there for the afternoon with a drink and a book.

As you walk into the classic gray shingled exterior, you may just notice that its next door neighbor is interior design firm, Nicola’s Home. We can thank the professionals at Nicola’s Home for the Grillhouse’s recent interior (and exterior) design makeover.

This barn-size wing houses perhaps one of the tallest, best-stocked bars in the state – if not the East Coast. What height! What inventory! The mix of neutral fabrics and natural wood, woven, and rustic metal furnishings makes all this space extremely well-balanced and welcoming. And we’re just getting started. If you’re thinking that restaurant owners who would put this much design magic into the bar alone would have some specialty cocktails up their sleeves, you would be right
If the river view and passing boats put you in the mood for a Bloody Mary…take a seat and use both hands for the largest, heaviest, most impressive 22 ounces of Bloody Mary you’ve ever had. Served in an actual Grey Goose vodka bottle, The Royal Mary is remarkable.

The biggest decision, besides what to eat will be where to sit. Besides the world’s nicest bar, there are lovely tables off to the side which have more of a library feel. If that’s not to your liking there is the main dining room – all two levels with great cushioned booths and/or comfy high-back chairs. The seating comes with an abundance of pillows – all of which you will want to bring home with you.
